A lot of people hate variant covers on comic books, but if they're done well and they feature great artwork, I love them. This variant cover for Spider-Man 2099 #3 falls into that 'love it' category. Featuring artwork by John Tyler Christopher, the cover gives you a nice, close-up look at Spider 2099.

The awesome folks over at Marvelous News snapped a pic of this awesome 6 inch Spider-Man 2099 Action Figure from the Marvel Legends line. No word on release date, but stay tuned. What do you guys think of the figure? I love that the red in the mask looks to be raised. I only wish that had carried throughout the costume. Otherwise, it's about time we got a high-quality Spidey 2099 figure.

Another day, another Spider-Man 2099 cover by Franceso Mattina. Will Sliney also shared this cover to issue #5.  After seeing these two covers, I'd love to see Mattina doing this on a regular basis.

It looks like Spider-Man 2099 is off to a great start. In a recent interview, Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso had this to say:

"Peter writing Spider-Man 2099 was a no-brainer. It was simple math. And the orders -- we broke 100K on issue #1 -- bear that out."

Hopefully us Spidey 2099 fans will get a nice, long run.

Will Sliney shared this awesome cover on Twitter for Spider-Man 2099 #4 by Francesco Mattina. This cover also features Sliney's redesign of Scorpion. It should be fun seeing Miguel take on some classic Spidey villains.

Spider-Man 2099 #1 came out yesterday and it was a lot of fun! Peter David hasn't missed a beat since last writing the adventures of Miguel O'Hara and Will Sliney's artwork looks amazing. His action scenes really stand out and Peter David does a great job of laying some groundwork for future storylines. For anyone who hasn't read Amazing Spider-Man #1 yet, there is a call-back to the Spidey 2099 preview, but you can jump right in without having read it.  My only complaint is that we've already seen a fair amount of the book in the two previews (preview 1, preview 2). Otherwise this book is a must read for all Spider-Man 2099 fans and is a great jumping-on point for anyone looking to add more Spidey to their life.
